Our story
ARLIS MOQ (ARLIS/Montréal, Ottawa, Québec) was founded in 1987 as the first Canadian chapter of ARLIS/NA (Art Libraries Society of North America). We are a community of information professionals who work in art and cultural fields. Our membership is composed of librarians, archivists, students and curators who work in art libraries, special collections and visual resources. The chapter’s goals are to promote the ideals and ideas of ARLIS in the local and regional context. We work together to share our experiences and to support each other in our professional development, through networking, advocacy, knowledge sharing, and cultivating a sense of professional camaraderie.
Art Libraries Society of North America (ARLIS/NA) was created in 1972 and is composed of 1500 members from the United States, Canada and Mexico, ARLIS/NA is an organization dedicated to the concerns of art, architecture and visual resources specialists in the broadest sense of the word.
